Our History

In 1985, Joseph C. (Trey) Wood, III, established the firm with a focus on bringing a new standard of healthcare design and planning to Georgia and the surrounding states. Joined by Bradley Brigman and Yancey Powers in 2005, WMA Architects welcomed a new source of experience in healthcare, commercial, and educational architecture to further compliment and expand the practice and efficiency of the firm.

The business perspective has developed over the previous years as a function of our principals’ past experiences with each member bringing a unique skill set to the team. Involved from each project’s inception to the completion of design and client objectives, the partnership of WMA has consistently raised the standard of service in the field of architecture as solutions are sought for healthcare and educational providers regarding their operational and physical needs for the present as well as the future. Such work includes the planning and design for acute care facilities, psychiatric facilities, hospital systems, medical office buildings, research facilities, community centers, and educational institutions.

Twenty-four years following the firm’s orgination in Georiga, WMA Architects continues to build a reputation of excellence with national and international work on over 550 projects with over 400 million dollars of construction to their name.
